Charles Chu & Kenneth Sit was established in 1989 as a Hong Kong law firm.   The present partners are Charles Chu and Hau Pak Sun, leading a team of experienced associates to represent our clients who are in need of legal services in commercial and property transactions, dispute resolutions, regulatory investigations and compliance.

The founder of the firm, Charles Chu, qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 1983, is a seasoned legal practitioner with main focus of his practice in commercial and property transactions.   Charles represented listed companies, SMEs and high net worth individuals in diversified non-contentious matters.  In particular, Charles had been involved in a number of residential and commercial redevelopment projects in Hong Kong acting for developers and banks in acquiring the whole lot from individual owners.  Charles previously was appointed as non-executive director in Hong Kong and NYSE listed companies.  Charles is also a China-Appointed Attesting Officer providing China Attesting Services for documents for use in Mainland of the Peoples Republic of China.
 

Hau Pak Sun was qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2005 and became partner of the firm in 2007.  He has substantial experience in commercial litigations and regulatory investigations.  Many of his cases resulted in landmark and/or important judicial decisions reported in the Hong Kong Law Reports & Digest and Hong Kong Cases.  His recent matters include acting for listed company Convoy Global Holdings Limited in its whole litigation saga involving shareholders’ remedies and directors’ duties, acting as advocate in a well-researched case reported in [2021] 1 Lloyd’s Rep 329 on incorporation of arbitration agreement and acting as Hong Kong solicitors for the appellant in the Privy Council case of Broad Idea International Ltd v. Convoy Collateral Ltd [2021] UKPC 24, a landmark decision on the test in granting freezing injunction against non-cause of action defendants in aid of foreign proceedings.  Pak Sun is currently a Council Member of the Law Society of Hong Kong and the Vice-Chairman of its Standing Committee on Practitioners Affairs.  He is also a member of four statutory tribunals in Hong Kong (notably as Deputy Chairman of the HKSAR Inland Revenue Board of Review as of present) and two arbitration panels in the Mainland China.   Pak Sun is also one of the first Solicitor Advocates (since 2014, in civil division) in Hong Kong.  He accepts instructions both from law firms and lay clients.
